Caitlin Langley

Caitlin relocated to Australia as a teenager, where she was offered the opportunity to ride for a friend to help train their endurance Arabians.  This was a life changing experience, finding this was the perfect combination of enjoying the outdoors and challenging her understanding of all aspects of horse management, especially diet, fitness training and conditioning and how many variables in management can work to achieve a partnership with your horse over incredible distances.  Caitlin loved the welfare component of the sport and the objectivity of having a Veterinary professional assessing the metabolic and biomechanics factors as the judge of best management, in addition to speed.

Eager to improve and learn more about the sport, Caitlin decided to commence study at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga NSW, where she studied Equine Science and Agricultural Sciences while working at endurance studs. Caitlin spent over a decade learning and competing under several of
Australia’s top endurance trainers and stables before finally being able to
purchase her first mare, Ava (Currowan Music) in 2020.

Ava was unhandled but quickly warmed to her people, and showed an inquisitiveness and a tenacity for everything that she was introduced to. She is a testament to being small but mighty.

Caitlin and her partner Jack loved Ava so much that they returned to her breeder and were eventually allowed to buy Ava’s younger sister, Currowan Lyric, in 2022 who has since been started under saddle.

Caitlins philosophy:

Caitlins ethos is to lead by an example of compassionate partnership with the horse, utilising the best available evidence as a guide for a program of training, fitness, and diet for horse and rider.  Caitlin believes that through consistency and patience, and with a great team behind you of experts to help in all aspects to get the most out of horse and rider that you will have you best chance not only of having the most enjoyment of your discipline, you are most likely to succeed. “Enjoy the journey, whilst always keeping focus on the destination”

Ava and Caitlin have completed 570 kilometres of endurance
rides together to date over two seasons and are preparing to compete at the
2024 National Championships - the Tom Quilty Gold Cup at Wirrina Cove, South
Australia in October, a 160 kilometre event completed over a 24 hour period.
