Hygain Group invests in rooftop solar on its path to making feed manufacturing carbon neutral

At the Hygain Group, we are committed to playing our part in addressing the global climate challenge and ensuring the sustainability of our business by working towards reducing our CO2 emissions to net-zero. This week we have reached a significant milestone in that journey with the installation of a 554kWh rooftop solar system at our Victorian manufacturing and processing facility.

The installation comprises solar panels and inverters which are tied to the grid supply system. The system will reduce the Group’s CO2 emissions by approximately 517 tons per year. We are planning to install further solar energy systems at our NSW facility. Collectively these projects will reduce the Group’s CO2 emissions by over 700 tons per year.

Group CEO, Kevin Bareira said: “Investments in sustainable environmental projects are important to the long-term continuity of our business. As a result of these initiatives, we can contain our energy costs over the longer term, enabling us to invest in future-proofing our business and set it up for long-term success.”

We are planning to make our manufacturing process carbon neutral in 2023 through a mix of solar system installations, transition to green electricity and the purchase of carbon credits to offset gas consumption. We will also be working with our supply chain partners to reduce the wider scope of carbon emissions associated with Hygain and Mitavite products.
